Privacy policy

Shortsmith works without accounts. Videos rendered in your browser are created entirely on your device — the text, data and files you use never reach our servers. If you choose an HQ server render, the content needed for that render is uploaded, processed, and automatically deleted shortly after.

Nothing you type into the tools is stored by us for browser renders. We do not require or collect names, emails, or accounts.

HQ server renders: the template data and any files you attach are sent to our render server solely to produce your video. Uploaded files and finished videos are deleted automatically after a short retention window (typically under one hour). We do not review, reuse or share this content.

Basic technical logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) may be processed by our hosting providers (Vercel and our render server host) to operate and secure the service.

Shortsmith is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings. Depending on your region, you may see a consent prompt before personalized ads are shown.

Apart from advertising, Shortsmith itself sets no tracking cookies and runs no third-party analytics.

Rendering technology is provided by the Remotion library. When you use the in-browser renderer, an anonymous licensing telemetry event is sent to Remotion as required by their free license — it contains no content from your video. Fonts used inside videos are loaded from Google Fonts.

Because we hold no account data about you, there is usually nothing to access or delete. For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@shortsmith.me.

Shortsmith is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
